How space exploration benefits mankind?
One of the greatest achievements of space exploration does not only helps us understand other planets and stars, but also examine our own planet and determine its benefits. Once the end of the cold war, countries started investing in space technologies and thus many satellites are sent to space to monitor the weather, establish satellite communication and observation purposes.
So now every gadget we use is connected to a satellite, the communication satellites paved the wave for televisions, smartphones, and the Internet to come. Now every technology we use is dependent on satellite systems and thus humanity and have extremely benefitted from space research.
NASA's SMAP research proved to be ingenious as it had predicted severe droughts in Africa and foretold the crops that we will have a high yield in each season, thus preventing a large famine happening in Africa. So it seems like it is worth the cost, right?
Can space exploration help save our planet?
The greatest danger our planet might face is Climate change, the warming of our planet resulted in the melting of ice and thereby raising sea levels. Space technology might come in handy to solve this problem and examine the effects of Climate change.

The technology used for space exploration is also used for exploring our own planet and it might help us predict the effect of climate change and observe the ice cap melting. The satellites launched into space are helping us map out our topography and predict the forest fires and give us early warnings. It might provide us with insight into the devastating effects of climate change.
Why privatizing space exploration is a bad idea?
So why use the taxpayer's money and invest in space exploration if there are private organizations like SpaceX and Blue Origin who are doing an exceptional job in space transportation? No, we can't just completely privatize space exploration because private organizations are working just on technology that could make the capital.

The Private agencies are profit-oriented, so they are only researching to improve space tourism and asteroid mining to make money, whereas the governmental agencies give their collected data on weather and crop prediction for people for free and improve their life by predicting the growth of crops in a particular season.
The government agencies have more experience in space and have done many projects for the betterment of Earth. So the idea of privatizing the space agencies might sound awesome, but it is important to let governmental organizations handle the job.
How will space exploration help us in the future?
NASA has already been involved in the DART mission to crush an asteroid that comes in the orbit of Earth. To ensure our survival on Earth, space missions could also be crucial. We just might colonize other planets and therefore ensure survival on other planets if Earth seems to be inhabitable one day.
Imagine if the countries spend their military budget on space research, we could bring in next-generation technology and we could scale larger areas of the cosmos. We could spot the asteroids and find new exoplanets in the vastness of the cosmos.
