Five ways the Earth could end - VastlyCurious

    Our existence is fragile and there is a high probability that the earth might die out. Still, there is time left for us to decide the fate of the earth and potentially avoid the destruction of the planet. Good things always come to an end, so the earth might not last forever. So we might well as avoid the catastrophes or think about colonizing other planets. What are the ways our home could die? Is there any way of stopping that?

Destruction of Earth

Intergalactic collision

    This might not be our planet, but it might also be the end of our entire galaxy. This type of event happens once in a while (once in a billion years). 

The Milkyway Galaxy

    Our milky way galaxy might collide with our adjacent galaxy Andromeda in a few billion years, this could change the entire structure of our galaxy. This could mean the end of our planet, but we don't have to worry about that now as this could happen only after billions of years.     

    We might have colonized mars or intergalactic travel would have become the normal stuff by the time we reach face that collision. We still got more destruction to face till then. 

Asteroid Strike

    Remember the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs, what is the possibility of that happening to us? While Scientists are still not able to predict the trajectory of the asteroids, how can we think about stopping them?

     We might try to stop to damage, but predicting the asteroid impact is going to be tough. The possibility of asteroids hitting the earth is still low, but the damage they can do is enormous.     

    The smaller asteroids are tough to spot in space because of their dark color and small size. Even the smaller asteroids can do a lot of damage, it could spread dust particles into the atmosphere and block the sun thereby affecting our entire planet. Various plans have been formed to stop the asteroids from hitting the earth, but still, there is a chance it all could turn waste.

Nuclear War

    Nukes are created by countries for their own safety, but it turns out everybody wants that for their country's safety. Now every major country has enough nukes to wipe out an entire city. Now imagine a break out of a major war.

    The population of the planet would be diminished and not only that, the effects of Nukes will stay on for a few decades. Look at what happened at Hiroshima!    

     A nuclear bomb would not only demolish an entire city, whereas its effect will be felt in the areas surrounding it. The crops not be risen in that area anymore. Imagine that on a large scale, with all the nukes we have on the planet right now, War would be the end of the world.

Climate change

    The catastrophes are getting more severe, the planet is becoming hotter, frequent droughts and floods are happening all around the world. This could be due to the effects of climate change. If we don't take action swiftly, the effects would be fatal.

Melting of IceCaps

     The low-lying areas might go below the sea level due to the melting of the ice caps and severe droughts would affect areas all over the world. The world would become chaotic. 

    We might have to fight for our survival and it is not going to be easy. If we ignore this, the world as we know it might not become toxic and not suitable for our survival.

Artificial Intelligence

    Artificial Intelligence has been a boon for our humankind so far. The problems that cannot be solved by humans are solved by them more efficiently. It has given has more opportunities to develop our world into a better world.

Artificial Intelligence is going to take over?

    But it might not stay the same for the next decades. The Field of Artificial Intelligence is progressing swiftly. The very idea of Artificial Intelligence is that it has to think and solve problems on its own without any human intervention. But what if somebody took control of them and the effect could be disastrous.

     Artificial Intelligence might also turn up against us later in the future where it becomes a part of our life. We must also prepare to fight against it if the time comes.

Conclusion

    Don't worry, this pandemic is definitely not the end of the world. But there are a lot of ways we might die, We have to prepare to fight for our survival if anything comes in our way. But these ways are a long way off, we got bigger things to worry about (making the world a better place).
