Flying cars |
How can flying cars help us?
We all have been stuck in traffic and we all could agree that it is the most annoying thing ever. But we don't have to worry about traffic jams anymore because now we will be traveling in three dimensions and now there will no longer be any traffic.
Plus, it will be faster than our usual cars because we don't have to worry about resistance between the car tire and the road. And it will also be a dream come true for all of us.

The future of flying cars |
The flying car will cover small distances compared to normal cars because ground travel often involves man twists and turns. But the flying cars will take more direct route and that would be fuel and time-efficient. And so this could potentially help us in the fight against climate change. It all sounds so exciting, right? So then why don't we have one already?
Why flying cars is a bad idea?
Firstly, everybody needs to be trained and qualified to run flying cars and mainly we have to worry about technical malfunction and human errors. We already know about road accidents happening regularly. Now imagine an accident on flying cars, it would not only risk the life of the passengers, but the car will act also as a dangerous projectile and could pose a threat to many human lives on the ground.
We would decrease the ground traffic, but the air traffic would potentially pose a greater threat. We won, but at what cost!
Why flying cars will never happen?
Sci-fi movies are already envisioned in our future with Flying cars. But no matter how compelling the idea is, physics and engineering don't seem to play along. The normal SUV needs about 1.6 megawatts of power to just hover in the air without any forward movement. We would also need more space inside the cars to adjust the air compressor and thrusters and not to mention the extra weight added to the car due to the additional components. Oof! Colonization of other planets seems easy now compared to this!
We should also consider the amount of noise that the rotor could produce. Even standing near a single helicopter is way loud. Imagine a bunch of flying cars taking off, that would cause enormous noise pollution. It is going to be like living near an airplane runway all the time. So we have to also develop the technology to evade sound.

The noise produced by propellers |
We would also need to worry about the weather every time we take our flying car. If we face difficult weather conditions, we are likely to lose control over the car and are more likely to crash. Oof! Now the normal car seems great, right?
