Imagine you are completely paranoid after working overtime for over a month now. You need a long vacation, but you can't have it. But you could use your teleporter to go Hawaii and chill out for a day and teleport back to your work. Sounds like a nice plan without actually having to waste your time travelling. This is what science promised us. But it is far more complicated than we think and it may not even work. Is there any other way to solve this?

How Teleportation works?
So Teleportation is beaming from one location to another without any proper path and it is actually travelling at the speed of light. Firstly, you will dematerialize at one part of the machine and you get materialized at another part of the machine placed anywhere.

Disassembling oneself |
Yes, Teleportation is all about disassembling oneself and transfer that data, possibly at the speed of light to the place you want to go. You will get assembled at the destination or basically saying your clone will arrive at the destination and you will be erased and your data lives on with your clone. It all seems science fiction just like flying cars.
Teleportation is a technology that is far off from now. But we do have the technology to vaporize humans and convert them to energy. The only problem is that remembering your atomic memories and teleporting via photos. That is extremely impossible and nobody wants to get vaporized.
Why Teleportation may not be the best idea?
I mean teleportation is a really cool technology but is never going to be possible. That is not it. We might even have to face serious problems even if we could implement this technology. We might have to make ethical choices and some organizations have to take responsibility for the teleportation and the teleporters.
Is this the teleported version of you is really you? No, I would say it would be an exact replica of you and will have the same memories as you but still, it will not be you. And you would have the dematerialize the original version of you, which is killing you and creating a new consciousness. Is that ethically correct? Who would take charge of that?

How virtual reality will change the future?
Why do we even need it in the first place? Because we want to explore places and meet new people. We might have the technology to do that already we just don't know that. Yes! It is virtual reality.
If you have an image of a flower at its highest resolution possible you can't tell the difference between the real flower and the image of the flower. There we have it then, the teleportation without actually disassembling yourself. We can also try to recreate the sound and effects of that particular place. You can also scan the world around you, project it in 3d and another person will have the feeling of actually standing there.

Conclusion
So the technology of Quantum Teleportation doesn't look like it is happening any time soon. So might actually shift our focus towards virtual reality and improve the technology so that we don't have to worry about teleportation anymore. But will virtual reality replace travel?
